Woolooware Bay Floodplain Risk Management Study & Plan 2022

The Woolooware Bay catchment is located on the lower part of the Georges River floodplain within the Sutherland Shire Council LGA. Flooding of properties in the catchment has occurred historically due to local runoff as well as its combination with tidal inundation at lower areas. The FRMS&P follows on from the Woolooware Bay Flood Study completed in March 2014.

As part of the project, the flood study was reviewed and updated. Major updates to the flood study included adoption of Australian Rainfall and Runoff 2019 data and guidelines, catchment conditions, and modelling methodology. About 1089 properties in the Woolooware Bay catchment are identified as flood affected in a probable maximum flood.

The FRMS&P also assessed flood risk, and flood damages in the catchment and identified flood management measures for Council to progressively implement.
