Wombarra Floodplain Management Study Geotechnical Review

This report presents Golder Associates' review of geotechnical aspects pertaining to the Wombarra Floodplain Management Study. The Department of Land and Water Conservation commissioned the review in response to Golder Associates proposal of 28 May 1997.

The review is based on:

  • study of supplied documents, the most relevant of which are listed in Appendix C;
  • research of Golder Associates project experience within or near the project area;
  • study of published land instability information for the Illawarra Escarpment;
  • general inspection of the project area by experienced geotechnical engineers and an engineering geologist;
  • conversations with personnel from DWLC, SRA, Longmac, SMEC, Wollongong City Council and Mr P Flentje.

Many statements presented in this report are our interpretation of the conclusions, findings or statements of others, verified as far as can be practically achieved within the limitations of the review process. Golder Associates' specific comments and opinions on various aspects are usually presented separately at the close of each section.
