Terara Levee Restoration & Upgrade Project - Additional Geotechnical Investigation Report for Terara Levee Final

This report presents the results of an additional geotechnical investigation carried out by Sinclair Knight Merz Pty Ltd along a section of the Shoalhaven River bank known as the Terara Levee, approximately 3km east of Nowra, NSW. The investigation forms part of the Terara Levee Restoration and Upgrade Project and is supplementary to our previous geotechnical report for concept design, which was completed in 2002.

For the purposes of this work, 'the study area' refers to the section of levee and riverbank extending approximately 2km from Ferry Lane in the west to Bryant Street in the east. The investigation comprised a review of existing information, walk over survey and field investigation with laboratory testing. The purpose of the investigation was to:

  • Characterise the sub-surface conditions and identify the soil types within the study area; and
  • Provide recommendations on appropriate soil design parameters for use in later slope stability analysis.
