Geotech Report on levee

South Albury Levee Upgrade and Feasibility

The Albury City Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan was adopted by Council in February 2016. One of the key recommendations from the Plan is that a feasibility study of an upgrade of the South Albury levee be undertaken. The study found that the existing levee does not provide protection against a 1% Annual Exceedance Probability (AEP) flood event, with overtopping found to occur, leading to inundation of an area of approximately 4.5 km2. This report presents the preferred concept design arrangement of a proposed levee upgrade and a feasibility assessment of the preferred design. The report includes an assessment of an appropriate freeboard allowance, and also presents the key findings of geotechnical and preliminary environmental assessments, presented in full in the Appendices.
