Sandy Creek and Poison Waterholes Creeks - Kywong and Narrandera - Floodplain Development - Guidelines

This report has been prepared for issue to landholders on the floodplains of Sandy Creek and Poison Waterholes Creek from Kywong downstream to Narrandera. It outlines a system of floodways which should remain unobstructed by any future development, and identifies some existing earthworks which should be amended so that these floodways can function efficiently . It also suggests areas which could be protected from flooding by levees, should the landholders concerned so desire. Any landholder contemplating further irrigation development, or the construction of other earthworks such as flood protection levees or elevated access roads, is urged to consult the Commission in the first instance, so as to ensure that the proposed earthworks will not increase flood hazards. No fees will be charged for consultations and advice on this matter.
