Salt Pan Creek Flood Study

Salt Pan Creek has a catchment area of approximately 26 square kilometres to its confluence with the Georges River. The Georges River in turn discharges to Botany Bay approximately 15 kilometres downstream of the Salt Pan Creek junction. Flood levels in Salt Pan Creek are strongly influenced by flood levels in the Georges River. For this reason, it was necessary to consider the interaction of flooding from the Georges River with the local Salt Pan Creek flows.

This revised Flood Study of Salt Pan Creek was undertaken to determine the design flood levels applicable to the 20%, 10%, 5%, 2%, 1% AEP and PMF events. The study area was limited to the major tributaries of Salt Pan Creek bounded by Arab Road, Canterbury Road, Wiggs Road and Moxon Road. Subsequent to printing of this report the study area was extended upstream of the intersection of Wiggs Road and Moxon Road to include the residential areas upstream. This extension is reported as Appendix C of this report.
