Revised 2016 Design Rainfalls Investigations into the need for and Derivation of Local Techniques

In 2016, a revision of Australian Rainfall and Runoff was released with updated IFD design rainfalls. The IFDs were derived using more data and modern methods than previous versions, and were produced at a broad-scale national level.

This report looks at the suitability of the ARR2016 IFD design rainfalls for certain localities in NSW where there are rapid changes in terrain.

A comparison of at-site data and ARR2016 IFDs was done and has led to a modified approach, based on techniques used in the 2016 IFDs, to be developed to capture the localised effect of escarpments (specifically in Wollongong and Coffs Harbour).
