Oxley Levee - Visual Audit of Urban Levees - Non Tidal Areas of NSW

Oxley is located in southwestern NSW, approximately 820 km west of Sydney. The small town is located beside the Lachlan River and is protected from flooding by a levee system surrounding the town. The Council levee extends from Foster Street in the north to Amy Street in the south.

This visual levee audit is designed to provide sufficient evidence to enable determination of the following:

  • Whether recently upgraded levees are being maintained in accordance with the appropriate Operation and Maintenance Manual/Asset Management Plan or other appropriate maintenance schedule.
  • Whether levees that are not in the process of being upgraded have deteriorated since the 1994 audit, which was conducted by the Department of Water Resources.

Based on findings from the visual audit, the flood levee at Oxley appears to require some immediate maintenance. The levee is considered to be in a poor condition.
