Narrabri Flood Study Review

URS Australia Pty Ltd (URS) was commissioned by Narrabri Shire Council (Council) to upgrade the previously constructed MIKE11 hydraulic model of the Narrabri Creek/Namoi River network from the original model version (3.2b) to a current version of the software (2009) and to verify the flood behaviour through the town of Narrabri. This report documents the outcomes of the study, the assumptions made, and recommends future actions.

As per the study Brief, the primary objective of the Flood Study Review is to verify the flood behaviour through the town of Narrabri. That is to provide information on flood levels, velocities and flows for a full range of flood events under existing catchment and floodplain conditions. The events of interest are the 10%, 5%, 2% and 1% AEP flood events, together with the Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) event.
