River Murray Tocumwal to Echuca - Mary Ada Creek Proposed Regulator on the Murray River in the Millewa State Forest

This proposal deals with the provision of a regulator and cutting at Mary Ada Creek (Penglasses Creek) for the watering of Millewa State Forest. The forest is the largest monoculture river red gum forest on the Murray River within N.S.W. It encompasses an area of some 20 000 hectares of the Murray River floodplain between Tocumwal and Echuca.

The proposal entails the replacement of the existing earthen block dam at Mary Ada (or Penglasses) Creek with a reinforced concrete regulator with a flow capacity of approximately 3500 ML/day. The sil level of the regulator will be set at the original bed level of the creek which corresponds to a level for an estimated Murray River discharge of between 2500 ML/day and 4500 ML/day. Final designs will determine this sill level.
