Floodplain Risk Management Study

Mogo - Floodplain Management Study

The first phase, the Mogo Flood Study, was prepared on Council's behalf by Willing and Partners Pty. Limited, Consulting Engineers. It is reproduced in Appendix C to this report. It identified the extent of flooding expected under certain nominated conditions. This section comprises the second phase: the Floodplain Management Study. It discusses the options available to reduce flooding impact and flooding liability.

Flooding levels corresponding to an Annual Exceedence Probability (AEP) of 1:5, 1:20 and 1:100 were calculated for the following conditions:

  1. existing conditions;
  2. obstructions removed from Old Mago Creek;
  3. filling of land to above 1: 100 AEP level for 30 metres creekside of the Highway from the bridge to Gaba Street and the depression to the north east of the Tomakin Road/Highway intersection;
  4. a combination of (2) and (3);
  5. as for (3) but fill to 1:20 AEP level;
  6. as for (3) but fill to only 10 metres creekside of the highway;
  7. as for (6) but fill to 1:20 AEP level.
