The community of Yoogali NSW is located approximately 4 km southeast of the Griffith central business district. The Main Drain J is aligned parallel to Burley Griffin Way and flows in the southwest direction. The drainage channel DC605J is aligned parallel to McCormack Road and Bosanquet Road and flows into Main Drain J. Two sets of culverts are located along DC605J where it flows beneath Bosanquet Road and Burley Griffin Way. The two channels, Main Drain J and DC605J are owned, operated and maintained by Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI).
This report presents the results of geotechnical investigation undertaken by Cardno (NSW/ACT) Pty Ltd for Griffith City Council (GCC) for the proposed McCormack Road Levee & DC605J Culvert Upgrades which comprises a proposed earthen embankment along the McCormack Road and Burley Griffin Way, adjacent the drainage channels DC605J/DC621J and Main Drain J respectively. The work was conducted at the request of Mr Max Turner on behalf of Griffith City Council on the 12 of April 2017 and generally conducted in accordance with Cardno Fee Proposal reference 48980517.0159 dated 30 of March 2017.
This geotechnical report has been prepared to assist in the detailed design and construction of the proposed levee & culvert upgrades. The report outlines the investigation findings, provides comments on the implication of the geotechnical conditions as well as design and construction implications comprising:
* Excavation conditions & excavatability of the subsurface profile;
* Foundation conditions, groundwater conditions and comment on any required dewatering requirements;
* Preliminary slope assessment with regards to future works;
* Geotechnical design parameters for all geotechnical elements;
* Allowable soil bearing capacities; and
* A general description of surface and subsurface conditions encountered.
