Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan

Lower Bellinger and Kalang Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan

This Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan was developed by WMAWater for Bellingen Shire Council.

The aims of the study were to: assess hazard and hydraulic hazard and flood damages recommend flood planning levels investigate available mitigation measures examine emergency management arrangements review council's flood policy.

Based on the study a plan for managing flooding in the Lower Bellinger and Kalang River floodplains was developed. This plan is based on an evaluation of all factors that affect the use of flood prone land and provides a long-term plan for the future development of the floodplain.
