Geotech Report on levee

Lorn - Audit and Levee Crest Level Survey November 2003

This audit report addresses the levee at Lorn.

The Dams and Civil Unit of the Department of Commerce (DoC) was engaged by the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources (DIPNR) to carry out a Levee Audit for a number of town flood protection levees throughout New South Wales. These levees have not been audited and if they are in a poor condition, failure could occur resulting in significant property damage and danger to personal safety. Failure below accepted levels can significantly impact on emergency management actions. There are six (6) town levees included in this audit: - • Walcha, • Lorn, • Raymond Terrace, • Hinton, • Grafton and South Grafton. These levees were not included in the levee audits, carried out following the Nyngan 1990 levee-overtopping flood.
