Lockhart Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan

The township of Lockhart is located 60 km southwest of Wagga Wagga, 56 km south of Narrandera and 97 km north of Albury in Lockhart Shire Council Local Government Area. The township of Lockhart experiences regular flooding from the Brookong Creek and also from major overland flow. This study considers flooding from both sources.

This project involves preparing a Floodplain Risk Management Study and Draft Floodplain Risk Management Plan (FRMS&P) for Lockhart. The main objective of this FRMS&P is to identify floodplain risk, test amelioration strategies for the management of risk and to put forward priorities and approximately costed recommendations in regard to flood risk mitigation at Lockhart. Council requires consideration of a range of management options to effectively manage existing, future and continuing flood risks at Lockhart. The outcomes from the Flood Study, Floodplain Risk Management Study and draft Floodplain Risk Management Plan will also assist the SES in preparing a Local Flood Plan for Lockhart.
