Jugiong Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan

Jugiong is located in the Riverina district of western NSW. The centre of town lies on either side of Riverside Drive and is mainly concentrated in higher land near the historic hotel on the corner of Riverside Drive and Jugiong Road. The main objectives of the Study are to:

  • Define the Flood Planning Levels (FPL’s) and the Flood Planning Area (FPA) for Jugiong;
  • Investigate less common events than the planning event in order to define flood risk for emergency response purposes;
  • Define flood hazard and hydraulic categories for the planning event flood;
  • Propose and assess potential mitigation measures;
  • Establish development controls in conjunction with Harden Shire Council (Council) that will ensure that Jugiong’s flood risk does not increase in the future; and
  • Draft a Plan for the management of floodplain risk at Jugiong.
