Gundagai Flood Study 2018

Gundagai is located in southern inland NSW approximately 390 km west south west of Sydney in the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council Local Government Area The township straddles the Murrumbidgee River and is situated 20 km downstream of the Tumut River confluence. The study area covers the floodplain near Gundagai for regions affected by both Murrumbidgee River and Jones Creek flooding.

The main objective of this study is to define the flood behaviour at Gundagai due to both Murrumbidgee River and Jones Creek flooding. The information and results obtained from this study defines existing flood behaviour at Gundagai and provides a firm basis for the development of a subsequent FRMS&P. Primarily, the study was developed in order to meet the objective of defining the flood behaviour (0.2 EY, 10%, 5%, 1%, 0.2% AEP events and the PMF) at Gundagai.
