Georges River Flood Study 2020

This flood study was commissioned by Liverpool City and Canterbury-Bankstown Councils to review and update the previous Georges River Flood Study (PWD, 1991).

The Study area comprises the Georges River floodplain from the East Hills Railway Line at Casula to downstream of the Salt Pan Creek confluence at Lugarno.

A TUFLOW HPC model was used to estimate flood behaviour in the catchment. It was calibrated and validated to historic flood data collected in August 1986, April 1988, April 2015 and June 2016.

Design inflows were estimated using rainfall runoff techniques from ARR1987 for consistency with previous work.

An assessment of the impacts of climate change was undertaken.
