Floodplain Risk Management Study

Eugowra Floodplain Management Study

Cabonne Council commissioned this Floodplain Management Study in accordance with the procedures set out in the NSW Government's current Floodplain Development Manual. This report includes recommendations for inclusion in a Floodplain Management Plan which, after consideration and amendment by Council and the community, will be adopted for Eugowra. This Plan will provide the basis for future management of flood affected land and any funding assistance sought by Council from the State and Commonwealth Governments.

This study summarises the available information relating to flooding in Eugowra. It describes the physical setting and flood producing mechanisms, identifies the flood extent and the resulting flood damages for floods of various average recurrence intervals (ARI). The transport linkages, planning instruments and the existing flood emergency system are also examined. The study draws upon previous investigations including the Eugowra Flood Study completed in 1994 by the Department of Water Resources, additional analyses relating to flooding on Puzzle Flat Creek carried out as part of this study, as well as historic flood data supplied by Council.
