Dobroyd Canal Flood Study

Dobroyd Canal catchment is located in Sydney inner west region. Approximately 60% of the catchment is within the Inner West Council, 30% within Burwood Council and the remainder within City of Canterbury Bankstown and Canada Bay Councils. The Dobroyd Canal catchment drains to Iron Cove on the Parramatta River via an open channel and a series of inlets at pits and pipes.

This study identified local overland flow as well as mainstream flow. Suitable models were developed to estimate flood behaviour in the region and as part of this project spatial model results have been supplied as well as

-provisional hydraulic and hazard categories

-provisional flood planning levels and areas

-preliminary emergency response classifications for communities

The sensitivity of flood behaviour to potential impacts of climate change has also been examined
