Cowra - Flood Inundation Map

This map shows areas within the town of Cowra which are inundated by floods of various intensities from the Lachlan River. It does not deal with flooding which could occur in small watercourses within the town, as a result of local heavy rain.

The map has been prepared in accordance with accepted engineering practice. The information shown is based on a combination of hydraulic calculations, hydrologic analyses, and flood levels observed at various locations in the town. It also takes into account the effect that Wyangala Dam would have on flood levels .

It is hoped that the map will help promote public awareness of the flood problem in Cowra and be of use as a guide to town planners and any person or organisation undertaking land development.
