The Brogo River Volumetric Allocation Scheme covers the Brogo River from the Brogo Dam downstream to Bega and Bega River from Bega to its confluence with Jellat Jellat Creek. The scheme, capable of supporting 12000 ML or 2000 ha, came into force since 1981, but regulated flows from Brogo Dam were available from 1977.

Lyall & Macoun Consulting Engineers (LMCE) were appointed to carry out a behaviour study of the Brogo River under various development scenarios The results of the study are to be used to assist in formulating the most appropriate strategy for maximising the allocation without prejudicing the existing license holders. The development scenarios to be simulated using the Water Resources Allocation Simulator (WARAS) model are:

• Scenario 1 Existing level of development
• Scenario 2 Existing licensed area at 100% development
• Scenario 3 Scenario 2 plus additional 353 ha irrigation area
• Scenario 4 Scenario 2 plus additional 1000 ha irrigation area
