Boggabri Flood Study - 2021

The township of Boggabri is located in the northwest of New South Wales within the Narrabri Shire Council LGA. The township sits at the confluence of the Namoi River and Coxs Creek. The objective of this study was to define the existing conditions flood behaviour from both the Namoi River and Coxs Creek.

The available rainfall and water level data was collated and used to calibrate hydrological and hydraulic models for both the Namoi River and Coxs Creek for the 1955, 1971, 1997, 1998 and 2000 events. The calibrated models were used to derive design flood depths, extents and flood hazards for a range of design events from the 20% AEP to the probable maximum flood. The flood level data was used to determine the existing conditions flood damages for Boggabri.
